 What you get from us

We take documents and make them readable to the audience they’re intended for. We do this by:

  • structuring documents to give them maximum impact
  • dealing with jargon and bureaucratic language
  • using verbs for impact
  • cutting over-writing
  • imposing discipline on long sentences
  • checking for consistent style
  • checking against the client’s style guide (if they have one).

We’ve worked on:

  • business letters
  • corporate documents (such as corporate plans, annual reports and employee handbooks)
  • guidelines and procedures
  • reports (in-house, public, national and international)
  • research papers
  • studies
  • websites.

Some clients also ask us to mentor their writers. We’ve worked as mentors both by sitting down beside writers and reviewing their work, and – more often – by email.

Our costs and what we charge

We charge £375 a day for editing. This doesn’t include VAT. We charge for the actual hours we work.

If you ask us to edit something, we’ll:

  • talk to you about what you want, what you’d like it to achieve and who it’s for
  • agree a clear brief with you
  • set a deadline for when you want the job finished.

We’ll estimate how long we think the work will take, but we’ll charge only for the hours we work.

Sometimes a job will take longer than we – or you – expected. If this happens we’ll let you know as soon as we can and agree what you want us to do.
